Car Head Units

SendSpin Player includes a dedicated layout for standalone Android car head units — devices running full Android (not Android Auto) with large portrait touchscreens.

The app automatically detects car head unit displays and switches to the appropriate layout.

If automatic detection doesn’t work for your device:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Under Display, find Layout Mode
  3. Select Head Unit

The head unit layout is designed for safe, glanceable interaction while driving:

  • Large album art at the top (200dp)
  • Track info with large, readable fonts (24sp title, 18sp artist)
  • Visual progress bar with elapsed and remaining time
  • Oversized playback controls in a single row:
    • Shuffle
    • Previous
    • Play/Pause
    • Next
    • Favorite
  • Up Next section showing the next 3 tracks in the queue
  • Group name display for multi-room awareness

All interactive elements have extra padding to accommodate imprecise touches while driving. Controls are spaced to prevent accidental taps on adjacent buttons.

This mode is ideal for:

  • Aftermarket Android head units (e.g., Joying, Dasaita, Xtrons)
  • Android tablets mounted in a car dashboard
  • Any Android device used as a permanent car music controller

For phones connected to a factory infotainment system, use Android Auto instead.
