Common Issues

Symptom: Connected to server but no audio plays.

Solutions:

  1. Check that the server is actively streaming audio (another client or the web UI should show playback)
  2. Verify device volume is up (both media volume and the in-app volume slider)
  3. Check that the notification permission was granted — the playback service needs it on Android 13+
  4. Try disconnecting and reconnecting to the server

Symptom: Music stops when the screen turns off or you switch apps.

Solutions:

  1. Exempt SendSpin Player from battery optimization:
    • Go to Android Settings > Apps > SendSpin Player > Battery > Unrestricted
  2. Enable High Power Mode in app settings for always-on devices
  3. On some manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei), check for additional battery management settings that kill background apps

Symptom: No servers appear in the Nearby Servers list.

Solutions:

  1. Verify you’re on the same WiFi network as the server
  2. Check that the server is running and listening on port 8927
  3. Try adding the server manually with its IP address
  4. Some routers block mDNS/multicast between devices — try a manual connection
  5. Guest networks often isolate devices — use the main network

Symptom: No playback notification appears.

Solutions:

  1. On Android 13+, grant notification permission:
    • Android Settings > Apps > SendSpin Player > Notifications > Allow
  2. Check that notification channels aren’t blocked:
    • Android Settings > Apps > SendSpin Player > Notifications > check all channels are enabled

Symptom: SendSpin Player uses significant battery.

Solutions:

  1. Disable High Power Mode unless the device is plugged in
  2. Disable Keep Screen On when not needed
  3. Use Opus codec instead of FLAC to reduce network activity
  4. Check if Debug Logging is enabled — disable it when not troubleshooting

Symptom: Can’t scan Remote ID QR code.

Solutions:

  1. Grant camera permission when prompted
  2. If previously denied, go to Android Settings > Apps > SendSpin Player > Permissions > Camera > Allow
  3. Alternatively, enter the 26-character Remote ID manually

Solutions:

  1. Clear the app data: Android Settings > Apps > SendSpin Player > Storage > Clear Data
  2. Reinstall from the latest release
  3. If the problem persists, enable Debug Logging, reproduce the crash, and file a bug report with the exported logs
